I remember telling Fahd I wanted to start a copywriting business in July 2023, and the only question he had was, "Why?"
The easiest answer was that I wanted another source of income. I love my 9-to-5. In fact, I think I've worked on the most interesting solutions over the past three years. But in the long term, I did not see myself staying in tech for much longer.
Was that what I told my brethren? Obviously not. I told him I had a passion for writing. It’s one way I’ve been able to express my thoughts—whether through technical blogs, poetry, spoken word, improv, etc.
A blog?
I’m starting a blog because I want to improve my storytelling skills. A lot of people say the way I tell stories is dramatic, but isn’t it supposed to be? That’s the whole point of a story—it’s full of drama. I also want to practice my writing; you only get better at something by doing it over and over again until it becomes second nature.
Does that mean I’d stop posting entries on the blog the moment I feel my storytelling is top-notch? No. If I ever get to that level, I’d probably want to tell more sophisticated stories.
Of course, this ties into my plans to get my copywriting agency up and running.

I had plans...
I wanted this to be a big bang release. I had ideas for the type of blog I wanted. Temitope did lots of research at the start of 2024 to make sure he understood what I wanted, and he designed one that fit my expectations. But life happened, and I wasn’t able to sit down and build the blog from scratch. I could’ve paid someone to do it, but for some reason, that didn’t feel genuine (don’t ask me why—I don’t know).
Check Temitope out here; he’s really good.
Since I spent so much time "planning" without getting any work done, I decided to just do the thing. It doesn’t have to be fancy (yet); I just need to get my foot in the door, and that’s exactly what I’ve decided to do. It’s not a coincidence that I started it in the new year—I’m hoping to ride the momentum and motivation for as long as possible.
Okay, so why binary logs?
I named it Binary Logs for the following reasons:
My life has been one thing or the other since I started this journey called ✨Adulthood✨.
I don’t have a theme for the blog—so if you think it’s one theme, then it’s probably the other. This also allows me to write about anything I want, and I can’t imagine that being a bad thing.
The B- in Binary and Log- in Logs form BLOG. Sorry, sorry—it’s probably tacky, but I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t try to find another meaning to the name.
Expected cadence
For now, there’s none. I’ve been preparing for this for a while, so I may or may not have about three posts ready to go. But I don’t want to run through them too quickly. At least once a week, definitely.
Thanks for reading! You showing up for a second time without knowing what to expect (yet) means a lot to me. See you around!
That last reason is a scam 😂
Really interesting acronym, never could have thought about it that way.
